The vitality of Fidel's legacy in Canada

Between November 18 and December 2, Leima Martínez Freire, North America Director for the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), undertook a working visit to Canada, taking her to the cities of Toronto, Montreal, Ottawa, and Vancouver.

In Toronto, the ICAP North America Director participated in and spoke at a symposium held at the University of Toronto, marking the 50th anniversary of Operation Carlota. The event included the participation of intellectuals and friends of Cuba.

In each city she visited, Martínez Freire held meetings with the leadership of solidarity groups and participated in public events marking the ninth anniversary of the Commander-in-Chief's passing. Throughout the tour, the enduring vitality of Fidel's legacy, the call for an end to the U.S. blockade, and concern and support for Cuba's situation following Hurricane Melissa and the epidemiological context were reaffirmed in every city.
