Addis Ababa, February 15, 2026.- The Cuban Ambassador to the African Union, Lucas Domingo Hernández, gave an interview to Ethiopian television station Hagerie TV during his participation in the 39th AU Summit, held in Addis Ababa.
In the interview, the diplomat shared his impressions of the 39th Summit, highlighting the spirit of unity and cooperation among the member states, as well as the importance of advancing strategic priorities for the continent.
He also conveyed his best wishes for the success of the deliberations and for the continued strengthening of ties between Africa and Cuba.
The Ambassador also denounced the imposition and intensification of new pressure measures against Cuba, which have a direct impact on the full development of economic, trade, and cooperation relations with African countries. He noted that these unilateral actions constitute an obstacle to joint initiatives in key sectors, affecting not only the Cuban people but also shared efforts for mutual benefit.
He reaffirmed Cuba's firm commitment to continue strengthening its historic ties with Africa, based on solidarity, mutual respect, and South-South cooperation.
