Zimbabwe Highlights Cooperation with Cuba in Media

Havana, March 19 - Zimbabwe's Deputy Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Omphile Marupi, highlighted today in this capital the importance of cooperation with Cuba in the field of media communication.

The existence of an agreement between the Zimbabwean news agency New Ziana and its Cuban counterpart Prensa Latina allows for the sharing of mutual content and strengthens bilateral relations, the deputy minister of that ministry stated in exclusive statements to this media outlet.

The official is participating here alongside the Deputy Minister of Information Technology, Communications and Postal Service, Dingumuzi Phuti, and other representatives of the African country in the Ministerial Forum and the IV Patria International Colloquium, which has been in session since Monday and concludes today in Havana.

Marupi emphasized that the excellent Cuban-Zimbabwean relations date back to the 1960s and continue to advance into the future as sovereign and independent countries facing common challenges in a world marked by digital economies.

The resistance of both nations in the face of economic sanctions imposed by imperialist powers has not hindered medical cooperation, the training of Zimbabwean professionals on the island, and exchanges in areas of mutual interest, he noted.

The promotion of the bilateral agreement between our news agencies allows this reality to be reflected and shared in the media of both countries, the vice minister affirmed.

He also stated that his delegation is attending the International Colloquium to receive and share knowledge and expertise to forge new joint paths in the development of the telecommunications industry.

According to his vision, it is necessary to adapt to new technologies for online commerce, which demands the adoption of cyber security tools for countries to better manage their information.

Despite cyber bullying and other media phenomena, it's impossible to live in isolation.

On the contrary, we must embrace Artificial Intelligence, develop software and new technological developments tailored to our interests, he noted.
