Cuba to resubmit resolution against U.S. economic blockade

Havana, September 15

Cuba has the right to live without a U.S. economic blockade, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez said, announcing that in November his country will once again present a draft resolution to put an end to that policy.

In a video on his Twitter account, the Minister said that for the 30th time the Caribbean nation will take to the United Nations General Assembly the proposal to put an end to the blockade, which only in the first 14 months of Joseph Biden’s administration caused damages amounting to 6 thousand 364 million dollars.

Cuba open to dialogue with the United States said Cuban ambassador

Cuba is more than willing to sit down and open a dialogue with the United States to foster mutually beneficial ties, Ambassador Pedro Luis Pedroso said during a conference today.

In a meeting with students from the Quinnipiac University Business School, in the state of Connecticut, the permanent representative of Havana to the United Nations delivered the speech “The Winds of Change”, in which he defended a peaceful economic and prosperous association between both countries.

US blockade violates human rights, Cuba denounces in Geneva

Cuba denounced in the voice of its ambassador to the UN-Geneva, Juan Antonio Quintanilla, the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States, which was described as a flagrant and systematic violation of human rights.

The diplomat delivered those remarks in the continuation of the activities of the 51st session of the Human Rights Council, a forum in which he rejected the siege imposed on the Cuban people by Washington for more than 60 years.

Cuban diplomats receive copy of a resolution that demands the end of the blockade

A copy of a resolution demanding the end of the blockade against Cuba was received by Cuban diplomats to the UN from representatives of the City Council of the US city of Hartford, capital of Connecticut, according to what was reported in Prensa Latina.

The document asks President Joe Biden to end Washington's economic, commercial and financial siege against Cuba and normalize relations between the two countries, said José Oro, member of the board of directors of the Global Anti-Blockade Movement (NEMO).
