The Ambassador of Cuba to the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero, held a courtesy meeting with the new Minister of Defence, Mr. Vasilis Palmas.
At the meeting, the Ambassador congratulated the appointment of Mr. Palmas as the new Minister of Defence and exchanged on the current national and international challenges and the need to preserve international peace.
The Member of the Political Bureau and Secretary of Organisation of the CC PCC, Roberto Morales Ojeda, signed, together with Stefanos Stefanou, Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Progressive Party of the Working People of Cyprus (AKEL), a Memorandum of Understanding and Inter-Party Cooperation.
The Ambassador of Cuba to the Republic of Cyprus, H.E. Mr. Angel Gustavo Suarez Cordero, was received on the morning of May 7, by the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Andreas K. Kakouris.
At the meeting, both sides acknowledged the historic ties of friendship between the peoples and governments of Cuba and Cyprus and exchanged on possible politico-cultural actions to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the excellent bilateral relations next year.
The Deputy Minister, Anayansi Rodríguez Camejo received the Secretary General of the Progressive Party of the Working People (AKEL), Stefanous Stefanou, on the afternoon of May 6, at the headquarters of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the fraternal meeting, both parties ratified the interest in continuing to strengthen the positive ties between Cuba and Cyprus, which will celebrate 65 years of diplomatic relations in 2025.
The Head of the International Relations Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba, Emilio Losada, received the Secretary General of the Progressive Party of the Working People (AKEL), Stefanous Stefanou, on the afternoon of 6 May.
During the meeting both parties shared the will to continue to deepen the relations between the two parties and agreed on the importance of working for unity in diversity of all left forces.
