Jorn's legacy: cultural heritage of Cuba and Denmark

As part of the visit made on September 13 to the Jorn Museum in the Danish city of Silkeborg, the ambassador of Cuba in Denmark, Yiliam Gómez held an exchange with Jacob Thage, director of that entity. Thage explained one of the inter-institutional projects currently underway, which consists of making a 3D sample of the work of the famous Danish painter Asger Jorn. This exhibition will essentially include the abstract wall paintings that the Danish artist painted in Cuba, which were restored with the support of several Denmark’s institutions in 2009.

Thousands of people demonstrated on September 2 in Copenhagen against the imperialist policy of the United States. In that context, Danish friends in solidarity with Cuba protested against the blockade in front of the US Embassy in Copenhagen, where they made speeches to demand the lifting of the blockade and condemned the tightening of that genocidal policy under the Trump administration, including the activation of the Title III of the Helms-Burton act.

The annual gathering of Cuban residents in Denmark took place in Aarhus on 31 August. The Cuban Ambassador, Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas and the Consul, Ares Valdés Acea, attended the meeting where participated almost 100 Cuban residents with their families, including their descendants from different regions of the Nordic country.

On the occasion of the Mini-Festival for Peace in the Danish city of Roskilde on 24 August, the Ambassador of Cuba in Denmark Yiliam Gómez Sardiñas denounced the illegality and extraterritoriality of the blockade policy imposed against Cuba by the US government for six decades, as well as the activation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act.
