ADDRESS BY COMMANDER IN CHIEF FIDEL CASTRO RUZ, PRESIDENT OF THE COUNCILS OF STATE AND MINISTERS AND PRESIDENT OF THE NON-ALIGNED MOVEMENT (NAM), AT THE 34TH SESSION OF THE UNITED NATIONS GENERAL ASSEMBLY, IN NEW YORK CITY ON 12 OCTOBER OF 1979

Very esteemed Mr. President;

Distinguished Representatives of the world community:

I have not come to speak about Cuba. I do not come into the heart of this Assembly to air a denunciation about the aggressions our small but dignified country has suffered for 20 years. Nor do I come with unnecessary adjectives to wound our powerful neighbors here in their own house.

 CUBA NO ESTA SOLA Statement of Cuba Solidarity Forum of Ireland (CSFI).

In the face of the worsening humanitarian situation in Cuba, primarily caused by the 63 years of the criminal and genocidal blockade imposed on Cuba by the U.S. and now coupled with Cuba being listed as a sponsor of terrorism, further isolating you from the world of trade, commerce and economic progress, we at Cuba Solidarity Forum Ireland wish to assure you of our continued support and solidarity in these dreadful troubled times for the Cuban people.

We know that the purpose of these vile deeds is to suffocate your country's survival and to clearly crush Cuban socialism.

The Communist Party of Ireland stands with the Communist Party, the government and the people of Cuba as they continue to endure the devastating consequences of the ongoing illegal US blockade.

The Communist Party of Ireland stands with the Communist Party, the government and the people of Cuba as they continue to endure the devastating consequences of the ongoing illegal US blockade.

Due to the current difficulty in sourcing energy, the Cuban government has been forced to temporarily shut down much of its industry and its services to its people.
