London, 28 June 2020.- In a virtual meeting held Sunday evening, organized by the Cuba Solidarity Campaign in Manchester, the Cuban Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Bárbara Elena Montalvo Alvarez, made a presentation on Cuba’s fight against COVID 19 and its internationalist response under the blockade imposed by the United States.
London, June 24, 2020 - The Cuban Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Barbara Elena Montalvo Álvarez, participated this morning in the meeting organized by Canning House on COP 26 and the challenges for Latin America, in which Ms. Fiona Clouder, Regional Ambassador for the Caribbean & Latin America, COP26, presented her country's progress in this matter and called for exchange and agreement between our nations, in view of the challenges aggravated by the impact of COVID-19. The heads of mission of our region accredited in the country participated in this event.
Statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs states its strong rejection of the slanderous inclusion of Cuba in a US State Department list of countries which are allegedly not cooperating fully with US efforts against terrorism that was made public on May 13, 2020 and that was strongly rejected by President Miguel Díaz-Canel. The Cuba Solidarity Campaign is adding its name to the growing worldwide call for the Nobel Peace Prize to be awarded to the Cuban international medical brigades that are fighting the coronavirus pandemic in many countries across the world.
Cuba has already sent over 2000 medics, to more than 20 countries to help in the fight against the pandemic, including Jamaica, Belize, Italy and Andorra.
Grahame Morris MP, chair of the All Party Parliamentary Group on Cuba in the British parliament sent a message of solidarity to the Cuban people and appreciation for the work of Cuban medical brigades during the coronavirus pandemic on 20 May.
In a video message recorded for the Cuban parliament, he contrasts the international solidarity shown by Cuba to countries fighting the virus to the US’s tightening of its blockade against the island even further in recent months.
