Open letter of Cuban citizens residing in Europe to Presidents and Prime Ministers of the European Union countries

We, Cuban citizens residing in Europe, request Presidents and Prime Ministers of the European Union countries to call on the US government to lift the economic, financial and commercial blockade imposed on Cuba as of 2 nd February 1962. Since coming to the White House, Donald Trump’s administration has tightened its hostile policy against Cuba to a level never seen before.

The United Kingdom Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, Dominic Raab, thanks Cuba for coronavirus assistance

Dominic Raab, the UK Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs, thanked the Cuban Government today in parliament for their assistance with the stricken British cruise ship the MS Braemar which had passengers with possible coronavirus infections.

He made the ministerial statement to MPs in parliament today

“I spoke to the Cuban Foreign Minister twice over the weekend and we are very grateful to the Cuban government for swiftly enabling this operation and for their close cooperation to make sure it could be successful.”

Cuba will receive MS Braemar British cruise ship

Declaration of the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On March 13, the government of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland requested permission from the Cuban authorities to dock the MS Braemar cruise ship, of Fred Olsen Shipping Line, in a Cuban port, with a small number of travellers infected with the new coronavirus (SARS CoV 2 / Covid-19), as well as their repatriation by air.
