Cuba declared today at the Open Debate of the Security Council on “Maintenance of international peace and security: implementation of resolution 2532” that: “Seven months after the Security Council adopted resolution 2532 (2020), the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be a global challenge that has sparked a crisis of manifold and ravaging effects, not only for health, but also for the economy, trade and our societies at large”.

Today, at the opening session of the Special Committee on the Charter, Ambassador Ana Silvia Rodríguez Abascal, Deputy Permanent Representative of Cuba to the United Nations, declared her country´s support for the strengthening of the leading role of the General Assembly as the chief regulatory, deliberative, policy-making and representative organ of the United Nations.

For the twelfth consecutive time, the Assembly of the African Union composed of the Heads of State and government of Africa adopted the “Resolution on lifting the economic, trade and financial blockade imposed on the Republic of Cuba by the United States of America”.
