Cuba: U.S. government earmarks millions to hinder Cuban medical cooperation

By , August 30, 2019. Note: Following is a statement by the Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba on one of the increased blockade measures, including lawsuits against Cuba arising from the implementation of Title III of the Helms-Burton law.

The Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement strongly rejecting a USAID program against Cuban medical cooperation. Cuban News Agency reproduces the full text of the statement:

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs strongly denounces and condemns the recent aggression against Cuba by the Government of the United States through a USAID program aimed at financing actions and the search for information to discredit and sabotage the international cooperation provided by Cuba in the area of health in dozens of countries and for the benefit of millions of people. It is an effort that adds to the gross pressures exerted against various governments to hinder Cuban cooperation and to previous efforts of the same purpose, such as the special parole program aimed at the theft of human resources trained in Cuba.

THE GOVERNMENT OF THE UNITED STATES IS EARMARKING MILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO OBSTRUCT CUBAN MEDICAL COOPERATION

Havana, 29 August 2019, Granma. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs energetically denounces and condemns the recent aggression of the government of the United States against Cuba via a USAID program designed to fund actions and information searches to discredit and sabotage the international cooperation being provided by Cuba in the health area in dozens of countries for the benefit of millions of persons. This is an endeavor added to the crude pressures exercised against a number of governments in order to obstruct Cuban cooperation and to the earlier efforts for the same purpose such as the special “parole” program designed to steal human resources trained in Cuba.

Nigeria to host African solidarity with Cuba meeting

Lusaka, 24 June 2019. The Mast. THE 6th African Continental Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba will be held in Nigeria from September 23 to 25, 2019. According to a statement, the Meeting of Solidarity with Cuba, a continuity of its five previous editions, will confirm the international support for the validity of the model of social justice that Cuba symbolises and its viability as an alternative for that “other better and possible world” for which the peoples of the world struggle.

Cuba will never negotiate with US under pressure – Díaz-Canel

By The Mast, 23 June 2019. CUBAN President Miguel Díaz-Canel says Cuba will never negotiate with the United States under pressure and threats. In a Tweet, President Díaz-Canel said Cuba clearly rejected the aggressive policy dictated by the President Donald Trump government against the Caribbean country. The Cuban Head of State invoked revolutionary icon Fidel Castro’s words when he said that, “honour, the country and dignity are not negotiated, just like independence, sovereignty, history and glory are not negotiated either.”
