Cuba and Malaysia exchange on the development of parliamentary relations

Kuala Lumpur, July 4 – The ambassador of Cuba to Malaysia, Ibete Fernández Hernández, received the chairman and vice-chair of the senate council of the Malaysian Senate, Dato Sri Khairuddin Abd Samad and Dato Mohd Suhaimi Hj Abdullah at the headquarters of the diplomatic mission.

During the meeting the parties addressed the need and possibility of closer parliamentary ties between Cuba and Malaysia, as well as the importance of having a mechanism of exchange that allows both countries to support each other in the forums of the sector.

Ratifies Malaysia support against blockade

Kuala Lumpur, June 22nd - The Assistant Secretary of multilateral political affairs division at the Malaysian Foreign Ministry, Tengku Mohd Dzaraif, welcomed Cuban ambassador Ibete Fernández Hernández.

During the meeting the Cuban ambassador thanked Malaysia's response to the Secretary-General's note on the application of the blockade, and the Malaysian official reiterated Malaysia's support against blockade as in previous years, while defining as an step backward what has happened in Cuba-State relations United after the recent announcements by US President Donald Trump.

He announced his government’s Cuba policy, which rolls back the progress achieved over the last two years since December 17, 2014, when Presidents Raúl Castro and Barack Obama announced the decision to re-establish diplomatic relations and engage in a process towards the normalization of bilateral relations.
