A floral wreath was laid at the tomb of the independence fighter on behalf of the Cuban people

SANTIAGO DE CUBA.- This April 18, on behalf of all Cubans, the people of Santiago de Cuba paid tribute to the man who initiated the nation’s independence struggles, Carlos Manuel de Céspedes, on the 198th anniversary of his birth in Bayamo.

Cuban Foreign Minister thanks Spain for solidarity

Cuban Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez thanked the Spanish people for its solidarity and support as well as their government´s rejection of the US blockade of Cuba. 

At a press conference in Madrid, Rodriguez, who is on a two-day visit, described as friendly and useful the meetings he held in the first day with Spanish authorities. 


Minister Rodriguez was received by the King of Spain, Felipe VI, the President Mariano Rajoy and the President of the Parliament Ana Pastor, and later met with his Spanish counterpart Alfonso Dastis Quecedo. 

Landing of Martí and Gómez at Playita de Cajobabo commemorated

Guantanamo.– The 122nd anniversary of José Martí and Máximo Gómez’s landing at Playita de Cajobabo, to join the Necessary War, was commemorated with a cultural and political act held at the monument dedicated to the historic event, which occurred on April 11, 1895. 

The hazardous landing was reenacted by young people from the municipality of Imías, where Playita de Cajobabo is located.
