Havana, Oct 10 (Prensa Latina) Miguel-Diaz-Canel was elected President of the Republic of Cuba this Thursday, by absolute majority of National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP, Cuban Parliament) members, in a free, direct and secret vote, during the Fourth Extraordinary Session of this legislative body.

In the parliamentary session, held in Havana's International Conference Center, Salvador Valdes was also elected Vice President of Cuba.

Both leaders thus received a mandate through 2023, when the current legislature of the Cuban Parliament ends.

Havana, Oct 10 (Prensa Latina) The Revolution is a struggle for the future of Cuba, stated Miguel Diaz-Canel today, on being elected and proclaimed President of the Republic of Cuba by the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP).

Diaz-Canel's speech was largely addressed to Cuban youth, who represent the future of the nation, he said.

President Miguel Diaz-Canel thus offered his inauguration speech for a term of office through 2023, which could be renewed for another five years, according to the Constitution approved in April.
