Fundraising event for Cuba hold in Sydney

The flag of the lonely star was hissed this Sunday in Sydney Bay aboard the cruise ship SydneyPearl, in the framework of an activity organized by the Australian-Cuban Solidarity Association of West Sydney, with the support of the Cuban Embassy, ​​to raise funds destined for the recovery of the island after the passage of Hurricane Irma.

Albury, 23th of October 2017. The photo exhibition Fidel es Fidel by the outstanding Cuban filmmaker and photographer Roberto Chile was presented in Albury on October 21st and 22nd as part of an initiative organized by the Australian-Cuban Solidarity Association in Victoria and supported by the Embassy of Cuba in Australia.

The vice mayor of Albury, Amanda Cohn, also attended the opening session.

The attendees enjoyed the 17 snapshots, taken by Roberto Chile's masterful lens, of the Eternal Commander between 2005 and 2012.

This article is a reflection on the application of the Cuban literacy methodology Yo, Sí Puedo to the Australian setting. The Yo, Sí Puedo / Yes, I Can! model developed in Cuba by the Instituto Pedagógico Latinoamericano y Caribeño, IPLAC (Institute of Pedagogy for Latin America and the Caribbean) has been successfully implemented across the Global South as a strategy of adult literacy. It is a legacy of our Latin American revolutionary roots, with its origin in the Freirean pedagogy of the oppressed.
