Ambassador Rodolfo Benítez Verson presents Credentials as Permanent Representative of Cuba to the World Trade Organization.

During the exchange held between the two parties at the Organisation's headquarters, Dr. Okonjo-Iweala highlighted Cuba's active and constructive participation in the work of the WTO, as well as its leadership in promoting dialogue and multilateral cooperation in favour of sustainable development. She praised the significant cooperation that Cuba provides to other countries, sending doctors and other types of healthcare assistance to nations in need.

The right to life is in serious danger. The United Nations Charter, International Law, and multilateralism are been threatened. There attempts intending to impose economic coercion and political subversion as methods to establish international relations. This is not only immoral but also illegal.

During her address at the event, Counsellor Madelyn Rodríguez acknowledged the active role of this alliance of States and its significant influence in actively defending common positions and submitting proposals on various issues of common interest.

Experts from the United Nations Human Rights Council call on the United States Government to end the blockade against Cuba and to remove it from the unilateral list of States allegedly sponsoring terrorism (SSOT).

They denounced the severe impact of this decision on the human rights of the people of Cuba, the country’s trade and financial relations, and the national efforts to respond to the cumulative adverse effects of the blockade, the COVID-19 pandemic and natural disasters.

United States: Experts dismayed by decision to reinstate Cuba as State Sponsor of Terrorism, call for lifting of unilateral coercive measures

GENEVA (6 February 2025) – A group of independent human rights experts* today expressed serious concerns about the U.S. Government decision to reinstate Cuba as a State Sponsor of Terrorism (SSOT) immediately after the inauguration of the new U.S. President, and a few days after its removal from this list by the previous administration.
