The Ambassador of Cuba to Guyana, Jorge F. Soberon Luis, met with the Honourable Dr. Ashni Singh, Senior Minister in the Office of the President with responsibility for Finance. During the meeting, the potential for further development of relations between Guyana and Cuba was assessed.

During the meeting, the cooperation relations between Cuba and Guyana were ratified for the benefit of the people of both countries.

The meeting was fruitful and with ample possibilities for exchanges between the UG and Cuba.

The Ambassador of Cuba to Guyana, Jorge Francisco Soberón Luis, paid a courtesy call to the Honourable Minister of Public Services of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Savitri Sonia Parag. During the meeting, an exchange was made on the collaboration between both countries for the continuous development of human resources in public services. Both parties recognized the fruitful historical cooperation between Guyana and Cuba in this area.

The National Ophthalmology Hospital located in Port Mourant, Region Six continues to have a tremendous impact in providing eyecare, with over 1,500 surgeries conducted in 2022.
Director General at the Ministry of Health, Dr. Vishwa Mahadeo made the disclosure on the sideline of a site visit to Kato, Region Eight.
“This year, we are looking to pass 2,500 because people need help and we have to get it done. What cannot be done here, we will facilitate it on the coast,” he related.
