Tributo a José Martí en Las Bahamas

The Bahamas, 26 July 2019. With the participation of local authorities, members of the Cuban mission and the solidarity group with Cuba and the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of The Bahamas, tribute was paid to José Martí, intellectual author of the assaults on the Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes barracks on the 66th anniversary of such heroic events.

As an expression of the strong ties in the field of culture and in the context of the 45th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and The Bahamas, four Cuban artists were invited by the government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas to participate in the Cultural Gala for the 46th anniversary of the independence of this Caribbean nation.

A few months ahead the 45th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the Commonwealth of the Bahamas and the Republic of Cuba, the Cuban Ambassador to The Bahamas, Ismara M. Vargas Walter, used the words “friendship, solidarity and respect” to describe the relationship.

Cuban Ambassador denounces the strengthening of US blockade against Cuba

NASSAU, 19 April 2017. During an interview to the news channel ZNS; the most important of its type in The Bahamas, the Cuban Ambassador to this Caribbean nation, Ismara M. Vargas Walter, denounced the reinforcement of the blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba.

The diplomat referred to the recent measures announced by the government of the United States, emphasizing on the implementation of Chapter III of the Helms-Burton Act and the further tightening of the United States citizens to travel to Cuba.

Declaration of the Revolutionary Government

The Revolutionary Government of the Republic of Cuba condemns in the strongest terms the measures announced by the United States Government on 4 June 2019, further tightening the economic blockade imposed on Cuba for over 60 years, at a cost for the Cuban economy which amounted to over 134 billion dollars in 2018 at current prices, and to the figure of 933 billion dollars, taking into account the devaluation of the US dollar vis-à-vis the price of gold in the world market.
