Cuban Medical Brigade Departs Belize

Today, the Ministry of Health and Wellness held a small farewell ceremony at the Radisson Fort George Hotel in Belize City to show its appreciation to the Henry Reeve Brigade, the international contingent of Cuban health professionals, who worked alongside Belize’s public health officials over the past 10 months.

Cuban Medical Brigade Departs

It’s been ten months since they arrived in Belize. And today, a ceremony was held to say thank you and farewell. Members of the Henry Reeve Brigade arrived in Belize on March twenty-fifth of last year to assist the country with its response efforts to the COVID-19 pandemic. Fifty-nine Cuban Health professionals have been working around the clock in health facilities across the country. A small ceremony was held today where Minister of Health and Wellness Michel Chebat expressed the country’s appreciation for Cuba’s help during this pandemic.

Cuban Medical Brigade Leaves

They've been here for ten months, and now the Henry Reeves Cuban Medical Brigade is finally returning to home. The 59 healthcare workers have been on the frontlines since the very start of the pandemic, working alongside Belizean specialists as well as personnel from the original medical brigade that has been in the country for years.
