The international community continues to fail to reach consensus on the issue of the death penalty. Resolutions on this issue tabled in the Council, the UN General Assembly and elsewhere are consistently adopted by vote, which is a reflection of differences in positions.

Cuba has developed a universal, free, primary health care system, which has allowed us to sustain very favourable maternal indicators, despite adverse economic conditions and the negative impact of the criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States government.
