Condolences in Bangkok on the demise of the President of Vietnam, Tran Dai Quang

With H.E. Mr. Nguyen Hai Bang, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to Thailand, paying tribute to the recently deceased President Tran Dai Quang.

On behalf of the people and government of the Republic of Cuba, I conveyed to the people and government of that country our deepest sorrow for the passing away on September 21 of a dear friend of Cuba and tireless promoter of the historic relations of friendship and cooperation that unite our two countries.

The President traveled directly to the Permanent Mission of Cuba in this city, in Manhattan, and was emphatic in stating: "We come to bring a message of peace."

Barbadian Minister presides over memory of the victims of the 1976 terrorist sabotage.

The Minister of Culture and Sports, John King, presided along with the deputy minister Deborah Payne, a very special act of remembrance and tribute to the victims of the sabotage against the Cubana airplane that took place in October 1976 on the coasts off Barbados, accompanied by civil aviation authorities at the time and the board of the Museum and Historical Society of Barbados. The Minister highlighted the cruelty of that terrorism act and its anti-human dimension, which served to unite our governments and peoples, because the generous solidarity of the Cuban people with the Caribbean was rewarded at that time with the strong reaction of the region in defense of our dignity.
