It is an honor to gather in Linz, capital of the State of Upper Austria, to participate in this event, today 26 July, a momentous date for the Cuban history, the Day of the National Rebellion. The assault of Moncada and Carlos Manuel de Céspedes Garrisons 65 years ago resumed the Cuban liberating and independence campaign that begun on 10 October 1868, 150 years ago. 26 July 1953 marked the beginning of the revolutionary process that would lead - five years, five months and five days later - to the Triumph of the Cuban Revolution on 1 January 1959.

Significant July 26th joint celebration between Barbados and Cuba

With the presence of Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, two heroic events coinciding in the history of Barbados and Cuba took place in a joint political-cultural event on July 26: the Barbadian National Day of Significance and the Day of Cuban National Rebellion, the first one commemorating the workers' rebellion led in 1937 by today's National Hero Clement Payne and the second recalling the armed uprising against the Moncada and Céspedes barracks, led by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

Friends of Cuba celebrated 26th July in Melbourne

Members from the Australia-Cuba Friendship Society(ACFS) gathered together last weekend in Melbourne city to commemorate 26th July and stressed their support to the Cuban Revolution.

The opening words were delivered by the ACFS´s president, Mrs. Maree Dellora, who stressed the historical significance of that date in which Fidel Castro was revealed  to the world as the leader of the revolutionary process that gave Cuba its definitive independence, on 1rst January 1959.

Cuba-trained South Africans receive medical degrees

A total of 57 students from the University of Villa Clara, received their medical degrees in the IX graduation ceremony of trained doctors in Cuba, organized by the University of Stellenbosch, on behalf of the South African Department of health.
