International Symposium on Microbiology

The celebration of the event from the 5th to the 8th of December in Havana will gather the 80th Anniversary Conference on the Pedro Kourí¨ Institute of Tropical Medicine, the 9th National Conference of Microbiology and Parasitology, the 6th National Conference on Tropical Medicine and the 6th Seminar on HIV and AIDS in Cuba. The scientific meeting will be organized by the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba (MINSAP), the Cuban Society of Microbiology and Parasitology (SCMP) and the Institute of Tropical Medicine "Pedro Kourí" (IPK).

Parliament of Jamaica adopts motion against the Blockade

KINGSTON, JAMAICA, October 31st, 2017. Hours before the historic voting at United Nations General Assembly against the United States blockade, the Parliament of Jamaica unanimously adopted a motion condemning the outdated policy that has a tremendous impact on the people of Cuba.

The motion, adopted for nine consecutive years now by the Jamaican legislators, condemns the “economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States” and refers that this policy continues to be “the main obstacle to the economic and social development of Cuba”.

Patrick Allen, welcomed Inés Fors Fernández in solemn ceremony to deliver Letter of Credence accrediting her as Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in this Caribbean nation.

New Victory of Cuba in the United Nations against US blockade

CUBA, November 1st, 2017.- The Cuban resolution ¨Necessity of putting an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States of America against Cuba¨ was widely supported in the United Nations this Wednesday, obtaining  191 votes in favor, 2 against (USA and Israel) and 0 abstentions.

The international community represented in the framework of the 72 session of the United Nations General Assembly strongly rejected the unjust and inhuman policy applied by the United States against Cuba for almost six decades.

UNITED NATIONS. – Once again, for the 26th time before the United Nations, heard was Cuba's demand for the elimination of the U.S. economic, commercial, financial blockade, supported by 191 of the world's nations.

Before the General Assembly, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla stated that the policy, which has been imposed for over 50 years by Washington, constitutes a flagrant, massive, and systematic violation of the human rights of Cubans.
