New York, November 21, 2018. The Permanent Mission of Cuba to the United Nations paid tribute this evening to the immortal figure of Fidel Castro Ruz, Historical Leader of the Cuban Revolution, who died on November 25, 2016, at age 90. It was a simple but profound and full of love ceremony attended also by members of the solidarity movement with Cuba in this city.
The Minister of People Empowerment and Elder Affairs, the Honourable Cynthia Forde, evaluated with Cuban Ambassador Francisco Fernández the possibility of implementing a technical assistance project with Cuban experts to deal with Alzheimer's disease, for which there is available the financing of the Pan American Health Organization´s office for the Eastern Caribbean. Accompanied by Deputy Minister Carolyn Springer and other senior officials of her team, the Minister expressed her satisfaction at having the experience and willingness of cooperation of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba, as it has been historically, and highlighted the value of this action because both countries have a large segment of their population over sixty years of age, but in the case of Barbados it is necessary to carry out a study on the ground as proposed in order to elaborate a Strategy and a National Plan to determine more precisely the steps that must be followed to face that disease more effectively.
Derry, November 2018. Dr. Aleida Guevara March during her stay in the city of Derry, Northern Ireland, had the opportunity to visit the Museum of "Free Derry", an institution that gathers important passages of the recent history of the city and the social struggles of his people, among which the so-called "Bloody Sunday" stands out.
