Comrade, I’m watching CNN news about Hurricane Matthew wich is expected to hit the eastern parts of Cuba in the next 24 to 48 hours. We can only hope that the monster storm passes without much harm to Cuba. I’m sure the Government of Cuba will do everything possible to protect the good people of Cuba. All the best!

40th ANNIVERSARY OF TERRORIST CARNAGE IN CARIBBEAN

Thursday, October 6, 2016 marks the 40th anniversary of one of the biggest man-made human tragedy in the modern history of the Caribbean. Forty years ago, long before our peaceful region got accustomed to the dreaded word “terrorism” or the heinous deeds of terrorists, 68 young Caribbean citizens, mostly from Cuba (57) but also from Guyana (11), were among the 73 persons aboard a Cuban plane, CU 455, which was blown up just after it took off from Barbados.

Just before her speech on behalf of the Barbadian government, the Hon. Maxine McClean, Minister of Foreign Relations and Foreign Trade, laid a wreath at the monument erected to the victims of crime in Paynes Bay, accompanied by Camilo Rojo, representative of the Committee of the Families of Victims, who follow the Minister making similar action together with the rest of the Cuban delegation that attended the commemoration, led by Cuban Hero Fernando Gonzalez, vice president of ICAP and one of the infamous Case of the Cuban Five.
