Chinese National Extradited to Mexico at the Request of That Country

Statement the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

On October 23, 2025, in response to a formal extradition request and following a decision by the Cuban government, Chinese national Zhi Dong Zhang was transferred to the authorities of the Government of Mexico.

Mr. Zhang had been detained in Cuba on July 31, 2025, for offenses committed on Cuban territory, namely forgery of documents and human trafficking, as defined under the Cuban Penal Code, and was held under provisional detention.

Celebration of Cuban culture at Wits University

Johannesburg, October 23, 2025.- Li Liu Jiménez Chang and Lauren Luis Acosta, officials from the Cuban Embassy in South Africa, delivered a lecture about Cuba at the University of Witwatersrand. There, they exchanged views with Spanish students on characteristic elements of Cuban culture and identity. This activity is part of the celebrations organized by the embassy to commemorate our National Culture Day.

Cuban Ambassador to India presents the report of the effects of the US Blockade on the cuban people.

New Delhi, October 23th, 2025- Ambassador of Cuba to India, Juan Carlos Marsán Aguilera, presented the report  submitted by Cuba to the United Nations General Assembly about the effects of the US Blockade on the cuban people, during a press conference held in the New Delhi Press Club . The diplomat reiterated that the blockade is a policy of extraterritorial scope motivated by political reasons, and is the main obstacle to the normal development of Cuba.

Cuban ambassador holds meeting with leader of the Bloc Québécois

Cuba's ambassador to Canada, Rodrigo Malmierca Díaz, visited the Honorable Yves-François Blanchet, leader of the Bloc Québécois.

During the meeting, they discussed the current international situation and the effects of the US blockade against Cuba.

Ambassador Malmierca thanked Canada, and in particular the Bloc Québécois, for its historic position in support of the Cuban people.
