Solidarity Movement bid a fraternal farewell to Cuban Ambassador and Consul

The enthusiasm and the numerous messages of friendship and brotherhood received in the name of our government, organizations and people in general were overflowing and contagious. For obvious reasons, the mutual gratitude, the exaltation to the virtues of the progressive and revolutionary thought of the large group of friends of the Cuban Revolution was concentrated. It has been an immense pleasure and an infinite pride that filled us with so many beautiful phrases, just for being humble representatives of that Cuban Revolution that is so big and generous. In moments like these we reaffirm ourselves more in the legacy of Fidel and Martí. All the glory of the world fits in a grain of corn, Fidel confessed to the world, as the best disciple of Martí.

Prime Minister of Barbados bid farewell the Ambassador of Cuba

The Honorable Mia Amor Mottley, Prime Minister of Barbados, in bidding farewell to Cuban Ambassador Francisco Fernandez at the end of his four-year tour of duty in the country and wishing him success in his future tasks, evaluated the main results of the bilateral relationship, pondering her first priority to a technical assistance project for teaching the Spanish language, which she considers essential to comply with her Government strategy with a view to ensuring that all Barbadian youths are bilingual by the year 2030. In that interview, in which Cuban Consul Ana Labaut was also present, the Barbadian Premier considered the aforementioned project as the axis of articulation to make more effective cooperation in other spheres such as health, education and culture.

Barbadian Chancellor and the Diplomatic and Consular Corp bid farewell Cuban Ambassador and Consul

With an affectionate message extended by the Chancellor, the Honorable Senator Dr. Jerome Walcott, the Barbadian Chancellery offered a farewell lunch to the Ambassador and the Consul of Cuba, Francisco Fernández and Ana Labaut de Dios. On such a special occasion that served to showcase the excellent bilateral relations, Dr. Walcott was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Trade, Sandra Husbands, the Deputy Minister Simone Rudder, the regional policy directors and the Protocol and Ceremonial director of that ministry, to which the heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the country were invited. In a similar subsequent activity, the Deans of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador Luis G. Seixas, and the Consular Corps, Mr. Selwyn Smith, as well as the Ambassador to CARICOM and ACS, David Comissiong, took the floor to highlight the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation among our Caribbean nations. In the social segment, good music was enjoyed and the expressions of affection towards Cuba were appreciated, culminating with a fraternal exchange of gifts.

BLP Political Leader invited Cuba to attend the Annual Conference of the party.

Moments that are recorded as testimony of fraternal relations between Barbados and Cuba, in particular inter-party ties. Sharing with Prime Minister Mia Mottley, Leader of the Labor Party of Barbados (BLP), shortly after she delivered a substantive speech to officially open the Annual Conference for the 80th Anniversary of the Party, the first to be held after his resounding victory in las May general elections. Cuba has always been represented among the special guests at the annual editions of the major partisan event.

Sir Marston Gibson, Chief Justice of Barbados, members of Cabinet of Barbados, Your Excellency Dr. Francisco Fernández Peña, Ambassador of the Republic of Cuba in Barbados and Mrs. Ana Labaut de Dios, Ambassadors, Heads of Mission, the Dean and other Members of the Diplomatic and Consular Corps, members of the Cuban Community in Barbados, distinguished guests, good afternoon all.- Ambassador Fernández, it is my great pleasure to be here today and to be joining with this wide cross-section of the Barbadian community for the sole purpose of bidding you and your very supportive wife Ana a fond farewell, as you end your assignment in Barbados. Over the past four years, we have all become your friends. So, for us, it is an occasion of pleasure but with a tinge of sadness to see you go.  I believe the same is true for you.
