Spanish Theater Night at the UWI Cave Hill Campus
The Department of Literature and Linguistics of the Faculty of Humanities, University of the West Indies - Cave Hill Campus, successfully held a Night of Theater in Spanish under the dramaturgical coordination of the Professor of Hispanic Studies, Dra Rosana Herrero-Martín, under the auspices of the Embassy of Cuba among other national organizations, during which students from different years put on stage in their original language three works of Ibero-American authors: The man who became a dog, of the Argentinean Osvaldo Dragún; Weddings of Blood, of the Spanish Federico García Lorca; and
Praise Academy from Barbados competing in the International Ballet Festival in Cuba.
Between March 27 and April 10, 2018, Praise Academy of Barbados made a professional exchange tour with the National Ballet School of Cuba, with 23 of its students who during a year have been trained by the Cuban teacher Laura Álvarez, who in addition to receiving several training sessions competed in the International Festival of Ballet Schools, reaching an award as finalists of the event, a fact that establishes an excellent precedent since it speaks of the potential of Barbadian children and all what can be achieved with the professional exchange in this area among our Caribbean nations.

The Caribbean Peace Movement (CPM) is disgusted and outraged by the latest episode in the orchestrated illicit right-wing oligarchical campaign to target and "bring down" by foul means the most outstanding and respected leaders of Latin America's 21st century Socialist Movement: namely, the conviction by a powerful right-wing Judge of Luiz Inacio "Lula" da Silva (former President of Brazil) on trumped up corruption charges, and Lula's incarceration on a 12 year prison sentence.
Cuban Embassy is invited to a teaching contest to highlight the Spanish language relevance.
Organized by the Cuban teacher, Yolanda Nelson, a multidisciplinary contest was held at Sharon Primary School, especially dedicated to highlighting the relevance of the Spanish language in the Barbadian public education system, to which the Ambassador and the Consul of Cuba were especially invited, who also participated in the awarding of those students who competed in the modalities of oratory, reading and song; the activity, that counted with Cuban professors in the jury that dictated in each discipline of the competition, culminated in a joyful journey of celebration, dancing and singing
