Barbados to be present at the University-2018 International Congress in Havana.

As part of the strengthening of cooperative relations in the educational sphere, the Principal of UWI Cave Hill Campus, Dr. Eudine Barriteau, attends the University-2018 International Congress, where in addition to participating in the Principals International Meeting, she will hold a bilateral meeting with his counterpart from the University of Havana, Dr. Gustavo Cobreiro.

Minister of Health of Barbados discusses the expansion of bilateral cooperation with Cuba.

The minister of Health of Barbados, Dr.John Boyce, proposed expanding bilateral cooperation with Cuba in several areas, through Cuban technical assistance projects aimed at tackling Alzheimer's and Dementia, training in Nursing and taking advantage of our biotechnology industry, beginning with the introduction of the Heberprot-P in this country.To this end, the ministries of both countries decided to negotiate the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding, which was discussed with the Cuban ambassador, Francisco Fernández; the Deputy Minister of Health, Gabrielle Springer, and several direct

Barbadian Minister of Tourism to evaluate multi-destination tourism with Cuba.

The Minister of Tourism of Barbados, Richard Sealy, received Cuban Ambassador, Francisco Fernandez, to evaluate initiatives that are feasible to be applied by both countries in the multi-destination modality, covered by the Memorandum of Understanding signed last December by Cuba and the countries of the Community of the Caribbean (CARICOM). Among the ideas discussed are those of taking advantage of the flow of tourists from South America and from Europe who come to the Caribbean in different ways.

Ambassador of Barbados presents Credentials Letters to Cuba´s Government.

In two successive ceremonies, Mrs. Donna Forde, until the date Chargé d'Affaires of Barbados in Cuba, was accredited in the rank of Ambassador. First, she presented the Style Copies to Vice Chancellor Ana Teresita González and later presented the Letter of Credentials to the Vice President of the State Council, Gladys Bejerano.

Two Barbadian authors awarded by Casa de las Américas in Cuba.

Three works by Caribbean authors were awarded in the 59th Casa de las Américas Literary Prize, held on January 25, 2018.The jury comprised of Elizabeth Núñez (Trinidad and Tobago), Jacob Ross (Granada), and Emilio Jorge Rodríguez (Cuba), evaluated the works written in English granting the main award was granted to the novel "Tracing JaJa", by Anthony Kellman (Barbados) and other two were awarded with Mention, the essay "Tell my mother that I went to Cuba, by Sharon Milagro Marshall (Barbados) and the poetry "Suite Canouan and other pieces" by Philip Nanton (SVG).(Read more)
