Sixth Caricom-Cuba Summit Declaration
We, the Heads of State and Government of the Caribbean Community and the Republic of Cuba, meeting in St. Mary’s, Antigua and Barbuda, on 8 December 2017, on the occasion of the Sixth CARICOM-Cuba Summit and in commemoration of the forty-fifth anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations among the independent states of CARICOM and Cuba and the fifteenth anniversary of CARICOM-Cuba Day.
Cuban Ambassador to lay a wreath at Barbadian Remembrance Day
On November 30, 2017, the Cuban Ambassador Francisco Fernández, was invited to attend to the Remembrance Day Laying Wreath and Military Parade to remember Barbadian veterans of the two World Wars. An Interdenominational Service was held presided over by Acting Governor General, Sir Philip Greaves, Prime Minister Freundel Stuart, Chief Justice, Sir Marston Gibson and Leader of the Opposition, Mia Mottley, will lay wreaths at the base of the Cenotaph followed by specially invited members of the diplomatic corps and other dignitaries.
Boxing appears among the disciplines that provide medals
Under the premises of the current cooperation agreement between the National Sports Council (NSC) of Barbados and Cubadeportes SA, another sport that has been outstanding with encouraging results is boxing, both female and male, in which the Cuban technician Felipe Álvarez Ramírez, has contributed with its work during five consecutive years, not only in the identification of talents in the schools programmed by the CND, but also with the Association of said sport to train and to follow up the athletes of the national teams that represent the country in international events.
