Significant July 26th joint celebration between Barbados and Cuba
With the presence of Prime Minister Mia Amor Mottley, two heroic events coinciding in the history of Barbados and Cuba took place in a joint political-cultural event on July 26: the Barbadian National Day of Significance and the Day of Cuban National Rebellion, the first one commemorating the workers' rebellion led in 1937 by today's National Hero Clement Payne and the second recalling the armed uprising against the Moncada and Céspedes barracks, led by the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro.

The Minister of Tourism and International Transportation of Barbados, Kerrie Symmonds, received Cuban Ambassador Francisco Fernández to discuss the possibilities of bilateral cooperation with Cuba in multi-destination tourism, based on the projections contained in the Memorandum of Understanding signed by the national authorities of that branch of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Cuba during the last bilateral Summit Meeting of Heads of Government held in Antigua and Barbuda in December 2017.
Barbadian Minister of the Blue Economy explores cooperation with Cuba
Minister of Maritime Affairs and Blue Economy Barbadian, Kirk Humphrey, received the Cuban Ambassador, Francisco Fernandez, to whom he brought a general overview on the priorities of this new ministry created after the electoral victory by the Barbados Labor Party last May, led by its prime minister, Mia Mottley. This ministry aims to enhance the economic and social benefits of the fishing industry, port activity and resources from adequate exploitation of the Caribbean Sea, including ocean energy.

Minister of Culture and Sports to promote a broader cooperation with Cuba
The Minister of Culture and Sports of Barbados, John King, met with the Cuban ambassador, Francisco Fernández, to review the bilateral agenda and explore new possibilities to expand Cuban cooperation in both spheres of his administration. In this regard, the Minister acknowledged the results of the Cuban sports-cultural mission that works in his country and expressed his aspiration to take this collaboration to higher levels through the exchange in various disciplines.
