Monrovia, January 1, 2017, - The excitement of achieving a sporting victory was joined on this occasion by emotion, respect and affection for Fidel's homeland. Thus, several members of the Liberia-Cuba Friendship Association, particularly graduates in Cuba, staged a friendly football match on the first day of 2017. Representing the Caribbean island, attended the activity the Cuban Charge d'Affaires Yordenis Despaigne Vera.
In a diaphanous and fraternal atmosphere, the President of the Liberia-Cuba Friendship Association along with several graduates in Cuba, spoke with the Director General of Bilateral Affairs of the Cuban Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Gerardo Peñalver Portal. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the diplomatic mission of Cuba in Liberia, in which Cuba's Chargé d'Affaires in Liberia, Yordenis Despaigne Vera, also participated.
On the morning of Friday, December 2, coinciding with the 60th anniversary of the Granma Landing, Chargé d'Affaires Yordenis Despaigne Vera received at the Cuban diplomatic headquarters in Monrovia the Vice-President of Liberia, HE Joseph Nyumah Boakai. Accompanied by several ministers and deputy ministers, Mr. Boakai, on behalf of President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, who is fulfilling commitments outside of Liberia, signed the book of condolences opened since last Monday 28 on the death of the eternal leader of the Cuban Revolution, Commander Fidel Castro Ruz.
