Young people from an important world platform visit Cuba

Young people from the IV Youth Brigade, associated with the International Assembly of the Peoples, began a visit to Cuba, the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP) revealed today.

According to an official report, the brigade is made up of more than 100 citizens, most of them from the United States, and they will carry out a program outlined by the Institute itself and the Martin Luther King Center.

Among the young people there are also some from Asian and African nations, who will visit the Fidel Castro Center and exchange with ICAP representatives.

Cuba will continue to support the countries of the world in Health.

Cuba's Minister of Public Health, José Ángel Portal, said today that for his country it is a duty to accompany the peoples of the world in the protection of health, regardless of complex scenarios.

The message came during a meeting with members of the Alliance for Health Development in Africa and the Caribbean who are participating in the 77th World Health Assembly, an event taking place this week in Geneva, Switzerland.

For Portal, it is impossible to talk about Cuban medical cooperation without mentioning our history of cooperation in Africa and the Caribbean.

American Jazz Orchestra in concert in Cuba.

The emblematic Casa de las Americas, in this capital, invites today to the concert to be given in its premises by the Harvard Jazz Orchestra, United States, under the conduction of Cuban Yosvany Terry.

The evening will be held at the Che Guevara Hall and will mark a new performance here of this group of young non-professionals in a reunion with the Cuban public.

During previous visits to Havana, this musical group has collaborated with national students and prestigious musicians of the island.

Cuban Head of Mission held fraternal exchange with President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate.

Monrovia, May 29, 2024 - Cuban Head of Mission Mercedes L. Martinez held a fraternal exchange with the recently elected President Pro Tempore of the Liberian Senate, Honorable Nyonblee Karnga Lawrence.

The meeting was propitious for the Cuban diplomat to convey her willingness to continue strengthening bilateral relations at the parliamentary level.

Hon. Lawrence is the second woman in the history of the Liberian Senate to head the Senate as President Pro Tempore.

On May 28, the Government of the United States finally announced a group of measures aimed at implementing the policy announced on May 16, 2022.  The purpose of this step, according to the text published by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC), is to support the private sector in Cuba.

These measures are limited in scope and do not target the essence of the blockade against Cuba nor the additional sanctions that make up the maximum pressure policy.  Once again, this US government decision relies on its own distorted view of the Cuban reality, for it intends to artificially separate the private sector from the public sector, when they are both part of Cuba’s entrepreneurial system and the Cuban society as a whole.

University of Arkansas strengthens ties with Cuba's Hemingway Museum.

The Hemingway-Pfeiffer Museum of the University of Arkansas and the National Council for Cultural Heritage (CNPC) recently signed a memorandum of understanding in Havana to strengthen ties with the Ernest Hemingway Museum in Cuba.

According to the Cuban Ministry of Culture, this step will allow the intensification of academic contributions between the foreign institution and the museum dedicated to preserving Hemingway's legacy on the island.
