African Union adopts new resolution condemning the blockade against Cuba.
Lusaka, February 20, 2024. On February 17 and 18, the XXXVII Ordinary Session of the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union took place in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, in which it was unanimously adopted and for the tenth fifth consecutive time, the AU resolution calling for the end of the United States blockade policy against Cuba.
For the fifteenth consecutive time, the 37th Assembly of the African Union, composed of African Heads of State and Government, has adopted a resolution condemning the continuation of the illegal economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed on the Republic of Cuba by the United States of America. On this occasion, the African Union also calls for Cuba to be removed from the unilateral list of countries allegedly supporting terrorism.
Cuba was re-elected today as vice-chairman of the Bureau of the UN Special Committee on Decolonization, which confirms the renewed confidence placed in it, according to the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Gerardo Peñalver.
