The Ambassador of Cuba, Beatriz Parra González, held a meeting with the Reverend Dr. Juha Meriläinen (sr.), Advisor for international issues to the Archbishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Finland. During the exchange, the diplomat highlighted the interest in bringing the religious entities of Cuba and Finland closer together, while acknowledging the important performance of the Lutheran Church in the country and in promoting international collaboration projects.The Ambassador signified the scope of the United States blockade in the daily life of the people, a scourge that has been repeatedly denounced by the authorities of the religious institutions and creeds of Cuban civil society.

Many thanks, I’m grateful to you all for being here. I have to report that Washington has decided to exclude the Republic of Cuba from the preparations for the 9th Summit of the Americas to be held in Los Angeles on 8th to 10th June and is presently exerting extreme pressures on numerous governments in the region which, privately and respectfully, oppose our exclusion. The US government is deceiving public opinion and the governments of the hemisphere, saying it has not yet decided on the invitations. I respectfully ask Secretary of State Blinken to say honestly whether Cuba will or will not be invited to the 9th Summit of the Americas.

Cuban foreign minister denounces aggressive US blockade

Havana, Nov 4 (Prensa Latina) The tightening of the blockade is the central axis of the United States' aggressive policy towards Cuba, Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez highlighted this Monday on Twitter.

Through his official account @BrunoRguezP, Rodriguez explained that this unilateral measure -imposed almost 60 years ago- is deliberately aimed at damaging Cubans' daily lives.

Cuba cannot withdraw its troops from Venezuela, because they do not exist

Pretoria, May 2, 2019.-The deputy general director of the United States office in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cuba, Johana Tablada, told in a press conference in Havana that "there are no Cuban troops in Venezuela," so it is impossible to withdraw them from that country, as claimed on Twitter the President of the United States Donald Trump.
On Tuesday, the US president threatened Cuba with implementing a "total and complete blockade, together with the highest level of sanctions," if Havana did not withdraw "troops" and "militias" in Venezuela.

Cuban Foreign Minister denounces U.S. maneuver to undermine international support for an end to the blockade

Yesterday afternoon, the United States permanent mission at the UN began circulating eight amendments to the Cuban resolution calling for an end to the blockade, reported Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodríguez Parilla during a press conference at the ministry in Havana. He reported that the amendments basically address aspects related to the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, and the human rights issue, a subject that the U.S. government attempts to use to discredit Cuba – unsuccessfully.
