Cuba reports two new cases of COVID-19 over the past 24 hours

Havana, June 25, 2020 -- The National Director of Epidemiology of the Cuban Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Francisco Duran, reported that there were two new cases detected of COVID-19, for a total of 2,321 positive cases across the island.  

During his daily press briefing held Thursday morning, Dr. Duran said that over the past 24 hours -- up to 12 midnight Wednesday night -- fortunately, no patients died from the coronavirus.  A total of 85 patients have died in Cuba over the past several months.

Cuba in Honduras, rapid response to Covid-19

Tegucigalpa, Jun 23.- In his first internationalist experience, Cuban doctor Angel La O valued his integration into the rapid response teams, a piece of the health mechanism with which Honduras is currently facing the Coviod-19 pandemic.

Born 31 years ago in the eastern city of Bayamo, the doctor told Prensa Latina via whatsapp about his experiences in confronting the new coronavirus in Honduras, from his arrival on April 19 to date.

PM Says Region Will Pushback Against US Bill Targeting Cuban Healthcare Workers

June 22, 2020.- Prime Minister Gaston Browne says Antigua & Barbuda will lobby and pushback against a proposed US bill targeting Cuban healthcare workers.

He notes that the recent bill introduced by Republican Senator Rick Scott which classifies Cuba’s humanitarian assistance as “human trafficking” seeks to extend punitive measures against countries accepting this medical assistance.

“They will be literally punishing countries who utilize Cuba nurses and doctors,” he said.“We think that is extremely unfortunate,”the prime minister added.

The Chancellor of Malta and the Ambassador of Cuba to that country hold a meeting by teleconference.

Rome, June 17, 2020. The concurrent Ambassador of Cuba to the Republic of Malta, José Carlos Rodríguez Ruiz, held a video conference meetingthis morning with the Maltese Minister of Foreign and European Affairs, Evarist Bartolo.

During the cordial meeting, both referred to the experiences of their respective countries in the fight to COVID19, as well as the impact of the aforementioned pandemic in both countries.

Cuban Foreign Minister highlights solidarity with nationals abroad

Havana, Jun 16, 2020.- Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez on Tuesday highlighted the solidarity and professionalism with which the country has worked for the return of nationals stranded abroad due to the novel SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus.

On his Twitter account, the foreign minister noted that 3,815 people have already returned to the country and efforts for the safe return of others are still being made.

CUBAN AND GERMAN PARLIAMENTARIANS DISCUSSED SOLIDARITY AND COVID-19

Havana, June 15, 2020-- Deputies of the National Assembly of People's Power (ANPP) of Cuba and members of the German legislature  met virtually to exchange on the international solidarity of the Caribbean nation in the face of the new coronavirus pandemic.

Promoted by the parliamentary group of the Die Linke party, the legislators discussed at 11:00 a.m., local time, about the socialist health policy and the results of Cuba in the confrontation of SARS-CoV-2 caused by COVID-19.

US aggression against Cuba: frustration over success against Covid-19

Havana, Jun 11, 2020.-The director general of the United States Department of Cuba's Foreign Ministry, Carlos Fernández, stated that the US attacks on Cuba seem motivated by frustration as a result of Cuba's successes against Covid-19.

The diplomat Tweeted that the urgency of the US State Department and anti-Cuban politicians to impose punishments on Cuba seems motivated by the 'frustrating' fact 'that we are about to control the pandemic'.

Fernández stressed that Cuba's positive results have been achieved despite the efforts of the Trump administration to destroy it.

Cuban medical brigade in Peru deployed in two groups

Arequipa, Peru, Jun 11, 2020.- The Cuban doctors who are fighting the novel SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus in Arequipa, southern Peru, start a new day deployed in two groups, one destined to attend patients admitted into hospitals and the other to investigate new cases.

This is how the 26 physicians who came to work in one of the hardest-hit Peruvian territories in the pandemic were organized, which on Wednesday reported 208,823 cases and 5,903 deaths nationwide.
