CARICOM | Caribbean Leaders Stand Firm Against U.S. Visa Threats Over Cuban Medical Program
MONTEGO BAY, Jamaica, March 11, 2025 - In a defiant stance that echoes the region's historical struggles for sovereignty, Caribbean leaders are pushing back against U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio's threats to revoke visas from officials who support Cuba's medical missions program, with several prime ministers declaring they would rather forfeit their access to American soil than compromise healthcare for their citizens.

Statement on Cuba
The Forty-Eighth Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community is gravely concerned with the continuing deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Cuba resulting from the embargo imposed on the people and Government of Cuba by the Government of the United States of America.
The Conference renews its call for the lifting of the unilateral financial, economic, and trade embargo and for Cuba to be immediately removed from the list of State Sponsors of Terrorism.
The African Union adopted a resolution against the blockade of Cuba.
At the 38th Ordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union (AU), the heads of State and Government adopted a resolution condemning -for the sixteenth consecutive time- the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States on Cuba, a cruel policy that has harmed the people of the island for more than six decades.
The text also includes, for the second time, the request to remove Cuba from the arbitrary unilateral list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism.
Cuban Ambassador to Dominica, Miguel Fraga, meets with Minister of Health Cassanni Laville.
Roseau, Dominica - February 12, 2025 - In a meeting that reaffirms the ties of cooperation in the field of health, the Cuban Ambassador to Dominica, Miguel Fraga, held a fruitful dialogue with the Minister of Health, Cassanni Laville. During the meeting, the Cuban diplomat presented Minister Laville with an official invitation sent by his Cuban counterpart, José Angel Portal Miranda, to participate in the V Cuba-Health 2025 International Convention, to be held in Havana from April 21 to 25 of this year.
