Excellencies,

First and foremost, I would like to thank the High Representative for the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations and his Office for their leadership in the context of a disturbing global rebirth of intolerance, discrimination and xenophobia. Likewise, I wish to thank you for the information provided on the activities carried out over the past year and those scheduled for 2022.

We thank Administrator Steiner for his all-encompassing remarks, as well as the members of the Board and the Secretariat for the arrangements made and documentation prepared to hold this session.

Distinguished members of the Executive Board and other delegations,

We would like to take this opportunity in which the UNOSSC Strategic Framework for the period 2022-2025 is presented, to praise the work carried out by this Office, its Director a.i. Mr. Adel Abdellatif, and his efforts aimed at strengthening the role of South-South cooperation as a resource for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, contributing to improve its integration into the work of the United Nations system.

First of all, I would like to express, on behalf of my government, my heartfelt condolences to the people of Pakistan, for the loss of lives during the heavy snowfall that hit Murree.

Mr. Chairman;

While we meet in this room to speak about peace and the promotion of a culture and an environment which contributes to it, the use and the threat of use of force in international relations continues, unconventional warfare activities are conducted and interference with the internal affairs of sovereign States is carried out in order to quench the Empire´s appetites for domination.

Dear President of Mexico, His Excellency Mr. Andrés Manuel López Obrador;

Your presence, as an honorable representative of the ideals of peace, solidarity, justice and prosperity for Latin America and the Caribbean and for the world, exalts this meeting.

We congratulate Mexico and wish you success during your presidency of the Security Council.

Within a context of global uncertainty and the multidimensional crisis sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic, this debate gains great significance.

We associate ourselves with the statement made by Iran on behalf of the Non-Aligned Movement.

Cuba appreciates the analysis of the Report of the Committee on Relations with the Host Country, document A/76/26.

As members of the Committee, we are working towards ensuring that it addresses, in a timely manner, all the issues that emerge from the relations between the United Nations, the Member States and the Host Country.
