On January 16, 2019, the US State Department announced the decision to suspend, only for 45 days, the implementation of Title III of the Helms-Burton Act, “in order to conduct a careful review …in light of the national interests of the United States and the efforts to expedite a transition to democracy in Cuba, and include factors such as the Cuba’s regime’s brutal oppression of human rights and fundamental freedoms and its indefensible support for increasingly authoritarian and corrupt regimes in Venezuela and Nicaragua.”

Declaration of the Ministry of Public Health of Cuba
The Ministry of Public Health of the Republic of Cuba, committed to the solidarity and humanistic principles that have guided Cuba’s medical cooperation for 55 years, has been participating in the Program More Doctors for Brazil since its inception in August 2013. This initiative launched by Dilma Rousseff, who was at that moment the president of the Federal Republic of Brazil, pursued the double purpose of guaranteeing medical assistance to the majority of the Brazilian people, following the principle of universal health coverage promoted by the World Health Organization.
US Blockade denounced in Finland during activities of the Cuban Cultural Days
Helsinki, October 18, 2018. As part of the several activities that take place during these days in Finland, on the occasion of the Cuban Cultural Days, the Ambassador of Cuba Eduardo Lazo Pérez gave a conference on Tuesday, October 16, at the Central Library of the city of Tampere, which brought together more than one hundred people, including former parliamentarians, members of the Finland-Cuba Friendship Association, Cuban residents and residents of that important city.
