Mr President,
We welcome the delegation of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and acknowledge the country's commitment to the Universal Periodic Review.
This was evidenced by the quality of its presentation and the thorough preparation of its delegation during the session of the Working Group, led by the Minister of Human Rights.
The Democratic Republic of the Congo and Cuba share historic ties of friendship and cooperation. Our country expresses solidarity in the face of the unjust loss of human lives and the mass forced displacements resulting from the escalation of violence in the eastern region of the country.
We are pleased that the Democratic Republic of the Congo has accepted the three recommendations made by Cuba, concerning the protection of the rights of women and girls, the promotion of a national transitional justice policy, and the development of policies aimed at achieving free basic education, ensuring the reintegration into school of a large number of children.
We highlight the country's legislative progress with the adoption of several pieces of legislation aimed at promoting and protecting human rights, as well as its efforts to address violence in cooperation with the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights.
We wish the Democratic Republic of the Congo every success in implementing the accepted recommendations and express our support for the adoption of the report.
Thank you.
