Mr. President:
The prevailing politicization, selectivity, limited cooperation and lack of trust in the Human Rights Council are the result of years of confrontation, attacks and hostility against certain countries, which are always from the South.
Mr. President:
The rise of xenophobia, racism, discrimination, hate speech and violence against migrants, mainly in developed countries, is disturbing and unacceptable
We reject the implementation of anti-immigrant policies that instead of empowering the contribution of migrants as an active economic and social force, reproduce stereotypes that marginalize them.
Mr. President:
Cuba is moving towards “zero leprosy”, through the “National Leprosy Program” and the implementation of the 2021-2030 global strategy against that disease.
Although leprosy ceased to be a health problem in Cuba since 1993, around 180 cases are diagnosed every year.
Mr. President:
The high numbers of internally displaced persons at the international level, which continue to grow rapidly as a result of armed conflicts, various forms of violence and discrimination, systematic violation of human rights, terrorism, climate change and natural disasters, among other factors, are of concern.
Algeria, Belarus, Bolivia, China, Cuba, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Lao People's Democratic Republic, Mali, Nicaragua, the State of Palestine, the Russian Federation, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Uganda, Venezuela and Zimbabwe
Mr. President:
We underscore the positive contribution of international medical assistance, cooperation and solidarity to the effective realization of the right to health and to saving the lives of millions of people in the world. We reject any attempt to deprive peoples of this right and to hinder international medical assistance, cooperation and solidarity for political or any other reasons.
Mr. President:
In Cuba, the constitutional right of individuals to freedom of thought, conscience and expression; the rights of assembly, demonstration and association; as well as freedom of the press for lawful and peaceful purposes are recognized, respected and guaranteed.
We agree on the importance that, during electoral processes, all truthful information be provided to the population and journalists, including voting procedures, electoral rights, the different candidates and electoral results.
Mr. President, Excellencies, distinguished guests,
The Cuban delegation is firmly committed to contributing to the success of this Conference—an essential forum for promoting social justice, labor rights, and cooperation among peoples.
I bring a fraternal and heartfelt greeting to all delegations, along with recognition of the work of the ILO, which for more than a century has defended the rights of working women and men.
