Athens, May 19. Today marks the 126th anniversary of the fall in combat of José Julián Martí Pérez (Havana, January 28, 1853 - Dos Ríos, May 19, 1895). National Hero of Cuba. He was a man of high principles, a Latin American and internationalist vocation; impeccable personal conduct, both public and private and with human qualities that sometimes seem insurmountable. A Cuban of universal projection who crossed the borders of the time in which he lived to become the greatest Hispanic American political thinker of the 19th century.
Cuba reaffirms commitment to Education for Sustainable Development, during UNESCO World Conference
Paris, May 17, 2021. Today the Minister of Education of Cuba, Ena Elsa Velázquez participated in the Ministerial Roundtable on the implementation of Education for Sustainable Development that took place within the framework of the World Conference of UNESCO on Education for Sustainable Development.
During her intervention, the Minister of Education stressed that education in Cuba is founded on the collectivist spirit, on solidarity, on cultivating spirituality, developing culture and sensitivity, without neglecting the material needs of the human being; despite the impact of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, which constitutes the main obstacle to Sustainable Development.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba condemns in the strongest possible terms the attack on the Al-Aqsa mosque in occupied Jerusalem and the indiscriminate bombings against the Palestinian people living in the Gaza Strip by Israel’s military forces, which have caused more than one hundred deadly casualties, the destruction of infrastructure and heavy economic damage.

The International Relations Commission strongly condemns the indiscriminate bombing of the State of Israel against the Palestinian population in Gaza, which has so far resulted in the deaths of at least 122 people, including 31 children, as well as hundreds of injuries and extensive material damage.
