Meeting confirmed between Cuba and US Officials

Alejandro García del Toro, general deputy director for U.S. Affairs at Cuba's Foreign Ministry (MINREX), confirmed recent foreign press reports on meetings between US and Cuba’s officials in Havana.
“It’s a sensitive matter that, as we have said, we have managed discreetly,” he said.

On this occasion, the initiative was presented by Dr. Malachy Dottin, coordinator of the Committee of Grenadian Graduates in Cuba, and Ruggles Ferguson, a renowned local jurist, who emphasized the need for this movement to reach national dimensions.

In Saint George’s, the capital of Grenada, an official reception was held yesterday to mark the 47th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Cuba and Grenada. The event was presided over by Acting Governor General Tillman Thomas, Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell, Minister of Foreign Affairs Joseph Andall, and Cuba’s Ambassador, Yadirys Echenique Paz.
