Guyana and Cuba work together to increase trade and investment
Georgetown, April 5, 2018. The Executive Director of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI), Mr. Richard Rambarran, held a meeting with the Ambassador of Cuba, Narciso R. Amador Socorro, with the objective of advancing in the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding between the GCCI and the Chamber of Commerce of the Republic of Cuba, signed on October 31, 2017 during the XXXV Edition of the International Fair of Havana (FIHAV 2017).
Minister of Health of Guyana highlights the importance for her country of Cuban medical cooperation
Georgetown, April 2, 2018. The Minister of Health of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Hon. Mrs. Volda Lawrence, participated in the farewell to a group of 13 Cuban health workers who completed their three-year mission in Guyanese lands. The ceremony was also attended by the Ambassador of Cuba, Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro, the Councelor Ana Violeta Castañeda Marrero and several members of the Cuban Medical Brigade.
The Minister congratulated the Cuban collaborators for the work done, wished them a happy return to their country and highlighted the importance of Cuban medical cooperation for the Guyanese health system, both in the provision of services and in the training of qualified personnel in the various medical specialties
President of the Women's Progressive Organization (WPO) receives the Ambassador of Cuba
Georgetown, February 23, 2018. The Member of Parliament and President of the Progressive Women's Organization (WPO) of Guyana, Mrs. Indranie Chandarpal, received the Ambassador of Cuba, Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro and the Counselor Ana Violeta Castañeda Marrero at the Cheddi Jagan Research Center. In a cordial atmosphere, the historical relations between the two countries and the ties of respect and friendship that existed between Fidel Castro and Cheddi Jagan were remembered.
President of the Peace Council of Guyana highlights the importance of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace
Georgetown, February 20, 2018. The Ambassador of Cuba, Narciso Reinaldo Amador Socorro, attended the re-launching of the Guyana Peace Council, which took place in the Red House, headquarters of the Cheddi Jagan Research Center.
During his speech at the event, the President of the Council of Peace of Guyana, Clement Rohee, stressed the importance of the Proclamation of Latin America and the Caribbean as a Zone of Peace, adopted by the heads of State and Government of that region, in occasion of the II Summit of CELAC, held in Havana, on 28 and 29 January 2014.
On the other hand, the former president of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana, Donald Ramotar, referred to the friendship between Cheddi Jagan and Fidel Castro Ruz and to the essential contribution of both leaders to the historical bonds of brotherhood, solidarity and cooperation existing among the peoples of Guyana and Cuba. Ramotar also highlighted Cheddi Jagan's firm position of rejection of the United States blockade against Cuba.
