CARICOM Secretary- General, Dr Carla Barnett, visited the Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology
Guyana, Georgetown, December 10, 2024. CARICOM Secretary- General, Dr Carla Barnett continued her official engagements in Cuba with a visit to the Centre for Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology where she met with Dr Marta Ayala Avila, Director General of the Centre and other officials.
CARICOM General Secretary visited the Latin American School of Medicine in Cuba.

During her visit, Dr Barnett met the Director of ELAM, Dr. Yolanda Muro Valle and CARICOM students from St Vincent and Grenadines, Jamaica and Antigua and Barbuda.

Guyana, Georgetown, December 7, 2024. Cuba Caricom Day in Havana, with the President of our National Assembly, Esteban Lazo, and the CARICOM Diplomatic Corps and other Cuban representatives. It took place in the Park of the Caribbean National Heroes in Havana. The President of Cuba, Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez, received the Ambassadors of CARICOM in Cuba.
Guyana commemorates 48th anniversary of terrorist act against Cubana civil aircraft.
Guyana,Georgetown, October 6, 2024. October 6 is the CARICOM-Cuba Day against terrorism, in memory of the 73 people who died, including CARICOM and Cuban nationals, in the bombing of the Cubana Airlines in the waters off Barbados on October 6, 1976. In the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Guyana, Honourable Hugh Todd, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport of Guyana, Honourable Charles Ramson, the diplomatic corps, and family and friends of the victims, the date was commemorated at the monument at the University of Guyana.
