Fidel lives in the hearts of Cubans living in Jamaica

Kingston, 26 November 2024. A representation of the Cuban community residing in Jamaica participated in the tribute paid to the Commander in Chief on the eighth anniversary of his physical disappearance.

During the ceremony, Professor Osvaldo Cardenas, president of the Association of Cubans Residing in Jamaica ‘Antonio Maceo’ (ACRJ), recalled the historic ties of brotherhood that united Fidel with former Prime Minister Michael Manley and that set the guidelines for cooperative relations in areas such as health and education.

Jamaica reiterates call at United Nations for end to blockade

United Nations, 30 October 2024. The Permanent Representative of Jamaica to the United Nations intervened in the debate prior to the vote on the draft resolution ‘Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States against Cuba’.

For the 16th consecutive year, the House of Representatives of the Jamaican Parliament approves a resolution against the blockade.

Kingston, 30 October 2024. In an afternoon session and for the 16th consecutive year, the Jamaican House of Representatives of Parliament passed by consensus on Tuesday, October 29, a resolution condemning the US government's economic, commercial and financial embargo against Cuba, and calling for the island's removal from the illegal list of countries that allegedly sponsor terrorism. The resolution was introduced by the Honourable Alando Terrelonge, Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade.
