United States: Unilateral designation of states as sponsors of terrorism adversely affects human rights, UN experts warn
UN experts* today urged the United States to review its national framework that triggers targeted sanctions against States designated as Sponsors of Terrorism (SSTs).
Currently, four countries - the Republic of Cuba, the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK), the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Syrian Arab Republic - appear on this US State Department list, with additional restrictions imposed as a result of the designation.

Jamaicans continue to benefit under the Jamaica-Cuba Eye Care Programme with 1, 230 sight-saving procedures conducted since September 2023.
The programme, which has been operating in Jamaca since 2010, resumed last September after being suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
65th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution celebrated in Jamaica
Kingston, 27 January 2024. Convened by the Jamaica-Cuba Friendship Association, a political-cultural evening took place in celebration of the 65th anniversary of the triumph of the Revolution. Present at the event were the Ambassador of Cuba to Jamaica Fermín Quiñones Sánchez, members of the State Mission, Cuban residents, graduates in Cuba and members of political organisations and social movements that integrate the Movement of Solidarity with Cuba.
