Cuba is facing human trafficking operations for military recruitment purposes.
The Ministry of the Interior has detected and is working to neutralize and dismantle a human trafficking network operating from Russia to incorporate Cuban citizens living there, and even some from Cuba, into the military forces participating in military operations in Ukraine. Attempts of this nature have been neutralized and criminal proceedings have been initiated against persons involved in these activities.
Visit of the Cuba Juntos project to the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in the Netherlands
The Hague, September 5, 2023. Representatives of the "Cuba Juntos" project, made up of Dutch family doctors and nurses, together with students and professors from the Leiden University Medical Center, visited the headquarters of the Cuban Embassy in Netherlands.
During the visit, they received a lecture on the Cuban Health System, as a prelude to the academic exchange program they are developing with the Cuban National School of Public Health, which takes them to visit Cuban medical offices, polyclinics and health centers such as the Diabetic Center.
Visit of renowned Cuban scientist David Fernández Rivas
The Hague, August 24, 2023. The Cuban resident David Fernandez Rivas, a prestigious scientist recognized in the Netherlands, from the University of Twente, paid a courtesy visit to the Cuban Embassy.
David was the 2021 winner of the Prince Friso Engineering Award "Engineer of the Year", a Dutch award given annually by the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI) to an engineer who distinguishes himself for his expertise, innovative capacity, social impact and entrepreneurial spirit.
Conference on Cuba at Leiden University
The Hague, August 24, 2023. At the Campus of The Hague belonging to the University of Leiden, our Embassy gave a lecture on Cuba to a group of approximately 45 students. Our culture, our reality, the achievements in the field of science and education and the constant confrontation to the Economic, Commercial and Financial Blockade were some of the topics addressed.
There was also a pleasant exchange where the university students asked questions and learned more about the largest of the Antilles.
