Cuba present at the Venezuelan Independence Day in Lebanon
The Cuban chief of mission Jorge León Cruz was present at the ceremony for the commemoration of the 211th anniversary of the signing of the Act of Independence of Venezuela, which took place in front of the bust of the Liberator of America, Simón Bolívar, on the main avenue of the municipality of Ghobeiry, in Beirut.
The central words were in charge of the Venezuelan Ambassador, Jesús Gregorio González, who highlighted Bolívar's imprint and his tireless battle to achieve Venezuela's independence and also emphasized the historical legacy of Hugo Chávez, José Martí and Fidel Castro, who are a beacon and guide for the peoples of the world.
For his part, the Cuban diplomat pointed out that Bolívar, Martí, Chávez and Fidel have much in common, as their legacies inspire the nations of the world to maintain the continuity of their revolutionary thoughts and works and encourage us to continue fighting for peace, sovereignty, independence and prosperity of the peoples.
The emotional and solemn ceremony began with the national anthems of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and the Lebanese Republic. At the end of the speeches of the Venezuelan and Cuban ambassadors, the representative of the Mayor's Office and the Secretary General of the Independent Nasserist Movement (Mourabitun), the participating authorities laid a wreath at the foot of the bust of the Liberator.
Present at the emotional ceremony were authorities of the Mayor's Office of Ghobeiry, the Director of Protocol of the Lebanese Foreign Ministry, members of the accredited diplomatic corps and representatives of Lebanese political and social forces.
