Addis Ababa, August 11, 2022. The Cuban Ambassador to Ethiopia, Jorge Lefebre Nicolás, met with the Minister of Health of that country, Dr. Lia Tadesse, at the headquarters of the Ministry. The Cuban ambassador thanked the opportunity to exchange on issues of mutual interest in health and highlighted the broad ties of collaboration established by both countries during these years and the will of the Cuban government to maintain them.
The Minister of Health, for her part, thanked the medical collaboration offered by Cuba and the opportunity to continue that rapprochement with the Caribbean country.
During the exchange, the Cuban diplomat discussed the potential of Cuba in the biotechnology industry and its products, which include vaccines, medicines and medical equipment. He emphasized that to date, millions of people in Cuba and other countries have been immunized against a variety of diseases with vaccines from the island which have proven their effectiveness.
The Ethiopian minister reiterated the interest of continuing to work with Cuba in this sector, key for her country, and to implement new collaborative projects.
